Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside, Oak Paddock offers you a special safe place where you can relax, have fun, train and most importantly, simply spending quality time with your dog.

The paddock is perfect for those dogs who are reactive and don’t wish to be around other dogs and/ or people. They maybe recovering from an illness or injury, or have hearing difficulties or you wish to practice on their recall training in a secure and enclosed environment.

Since our dog Benji came into our lives at 12 weeks old seven years ago, it has been a dream of mine to offer a safe space for other dogs like Benji.

Benji is reactive to other dogs and people and can find walking out in our local area frightening at times.

In those early days, to be able to take Benji to a safe space where we know he wouldn’t have those distractions, where we could build on increasing his confidence, supporting him to overcome some of his fears and above all, being able to let him off lead to have fun, would have been amazing.

Hence the reason we purchased the paddock! For Benji! But then I got thinking of all the other dogs who would benefit from being able to use a safe and enclosed space within our local area. From talking to other people, being able to offer a safe space to those dogs who are reactive, recovering from an illness or injury or just purely want time alone with their dog, free from distractions would be a great benefit to many.

My passion for Oak Paddock is to offer an environment where all dogs with different needs can have a safe space to enjoy themselves through sensory, enrichment, freedom and adventure.

We offer a natural environment where we encourage the local fauna. We use recycled materials as often as we can and have tried to think of fun things to be able to offer.

Please be aware that our wonderful neighbours do have chickens, horses and dogs. Their non aggressive dogs are occasionally in their garden next to our paddock and whilst this can be seen as a positive training exercise for your dog, we appreciate this could be a potential trigger for some dogs and therefore we appreciate Oak Paddock may not be suitable for all.

We do have screening running along the adjacent fence and at no time can your dog physically come into contact with any of their animals.

If you need guidance on how to support your dog with these sights and sounds, please let me know and I will ask our local trainer and behaviourist to create a little ‘’how to’’.

We want you to enjoy your time with your dog at Oak Paddock but we also realise that as dog owners, we sometimes need time to ourselves to re-charge our own batteries so please feel free to use the summer house for your your own benefit. Make a drink and sit in the peaceful surroundings knowing your dog is safe.
