What are the opening and closing times for using the field?

WINTER PERIOD
(1st November to 31st March)

(1st April to 31st October)
Monday to Saturday: 8am to 7pm

Who can use the field?

At this time, the field is available for personal use only; a maximum of two people only during any one session. If you are a canine professional and wish to use the field with your client, please contact us by email to make an enquiry. Thank you.

Where are you?

The field is located in Upton, BH16 5NB. Directions are available on our website: www.oakpaddock.co.uk

Is there car parking?

Parking is available for 2 vehicles. Parking on the grass verge outside is strictly forbidden. At no time should two separate parties be in the car park at any one time as many dogs are fearful of people/dogs/cars. If you arrive fractionally early and the car park is occupied please continue down the road, turn around and wait.

How much is it to hire the paddock?

It is £10 per session for up to 2 dogs. Each additional dog is £2.50, and a maximum of 4 dogs per session.

How long is a session?

You have access to the site for 55 minutes maximum, your allocated time includes arrival and departure so please ensure you leave promptly five minutes before the end of your session. We advise that your dog is in your vehicle five minutes before you depart to avoid any possible contact with the next user. Some dogs are people and/or dog reactive who don’t want to be put into a confrontational situation. On arrival, if there is another car in the car park, please go to the end of the lane, turn around and wait for the car to exit the car park.

What facilities are there?

Enrichment facilities are available for the dogs: nosework, parcour and agility activities (see website!!). Rain butts are on site and fresh water containers are in the summer house, however you may wish to bring additional fresh water for your dog.

How safe is the field?

There is a 6 foot fence completely enclosing the field. 90% of this also runs underground by 1 foot. Adjacent to the field is a residential property with dogs and chickens and a field of horses to the rear. If your dog is reactive to these – please see FAQ below on triggers.

What triggers are there?

The neighbour’s property has dogs, chickens, cats, children and horses which facilitates a natural feel to the site. Their friendly dogs may approach the solid wooden fence in the parking area (additional bushes help obstruct the view). It is a great opportunity for rehabilitation work (information on this will be available at the field). Chickens, cats, children and horses may be partially visible from the paddock providing another safe opportunity for rehabilitation and conditioning.
